Bir Al Arees (the bridegroom well), photographed by Mohammad Helmi in 1947. It was also called the Well of the Ring from an account in the Hadith - the Traditions of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) - of Uthman ibn Affan accidentally dropping the Prophet's ring into it. This important well was located just wet of Masjid Al Quba mouque its site has been incorporated into the new mosque extension.
