This photograph, is taken in the 1940s, present view of the ruins of the burial places of the Sayyid Ash-Shohada, the Uhud Martyrs. These were early followers of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), who were killed in the Battle of Uhud and were buried immediately after the battle in the area where they fell. They included a beloved uncle of the Prophet, Hamza ibn Abdul Muttalib, Musaab Ibn Omair, Abdullah Ibn Jahsh and many others. The granite ridge of Jabal Uhud can be seen in the background.
