This one photograph, taken in 1904 -1908 by lbrahim Rifaat Pasha, then Commander of the pilgrimage (Amir Al Hajj), show the ruins of the palace of Said ibn Al As, Governor of Madinah under the early Umayyad Caliph. Mouawiah ibn Abi Sufyan. Built between 669 and 679, the palace was one of the grandest of its time, and is today one the oldest surviving architectural structures in Madinah. it stands inside the grounds of the palace of the Governor of Madinah, in Wadi Al Aqeeq.
