A caravan of Egyptian pilgrims approaches Madinah - one of many superb photographs of the Hajj taken in 1904-1908 by an Egyptian civil servant and photographer, Mohammad Ali Effendi Sa'oudi. On two occasions he accompanied Ibrahim Rifaat Pasha, the Amir Al Haij (see photographs under 15), on the official Egyptian pilgrimage caravan.
